A toothache and sore throat are keeping us up late tonight, so we idly switched over to TBN to see what was going on in the world of wacky word-faith. There’s Juanita Bynum in a white robe, surrounded by men and women dressed all in black. Some interesting notes:
- “You need to send a thousand dollars. If you can’t send a thousand, send five hundred… if all you have is a nickel, wrap it in tissue and put it in an envelope. If all you have is your clothes, send them.”
- “If you want the power, you have to sow the seed [clearly referring to sending her money in context].” (See Acts 8 below.)
- “We’re going together into a spirit of wealth.”
- “Last night, you sowed to your ability. Tonight, you sow beyond your ability.”
- “‘I need [to give] because I need favor. I need it because I need an anointing. I need it because I need power.’” (Her speaking for the people who give to her tonight.)
- “‘I’m giving because I want my daughters to be daughters of Zion.’” (Again speaking for those who are giving to her.)
- “You’ve got three days to get that into your mailbox. I’m not afraid to say this. I am walking in my authority… if you don’t postmark it by the tenth, we will not accept it. [I’d like confirmation of that.] God says you have three days to get your thousand-dollar seed in the mail.”
- “Give it to me and you will live. Give it to me and you will have more than enough.” (She claims to be speaking for the Lord, actually.)
- “If all you have is $79.36, I double-dare you to empty your bank account. Close your account.”
Compare Acts 8:
Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was bestowed through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money, saying, “Give this authority to me as well, so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” But Peter said to him, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money! You have no part or portion in this matter, for your heart is not right before God. Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray the Lord that, if possible, the intention of your heart may be forgiven you. For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bondage of iniquity.”
On several occasions she told her audience that they were like the Macedonians in 2 Corinthians 8, because God was going to bless them for giving beyond their means. Of course, nobody ever says whether the money given by these “modern-day Macedonians” is going to help needy people (like Paul’s offerings were in the Epistles, mostly to help needy believers in Jerusalem, and not to further his own ministry), or whether this is just to keep TBN on the air all over the world, and keep Juanita Bynum able to rent out stadiums and buy lots of tallits and bedsheets she can sell for one thousand dollars a pop on television.
Perhaps the worst part was when she had her people spread out enough white tallits (the traditional Jewish garment worn in prayer and study) to cover the entire stage behind her. She announced that she would be walking on them, and sprinkling olive oil on them, and people who gave (the most often suggested amount was one thousand dollars) would receive these (or pieces of these). They were supposed to wear them at all times for twenty-one days; to wrap them around themselves, to put them on their children, to slip them under their mattresses.
I cannot tell you how revolting it was to see that false teacher walk on the symbol of God’s Holy Word, that symbol of our Lord’s authority, with Jan Crouch walking behind her and pouring olive oil on her hands so she could douse the tallits. Then we saw the cameraman, who had to step on the tallits himself so he could follow Juanita and Jan across the stage. It really amazed me, to see her doing in front of the camera what she had been doing for years through her words — walking on God’s Word, treading underfoot the Truth, as if it were dung to her.
Finally the long “prayer” at the end, where Juanita walked or knelt on the stage, babbling at the tallits (“ma ma ma ma sha ba sai ah ma ma ma”). The cameraman still stood in front of her, catching every move of this woman in her co-opted “priestly robes,” with Jan Crouch now bowing in her direction, moving her arms up and down like Wayne and Garth saying “we’re not worthy.” Now she’s wiping her sweat with the tallits she has been walking on, and screaming “Oh God!” over and over.
More notes from the tallit and prayer cloth part:
- “You cannot violate the principle. [To the people coming forward for pieces of the prayer cloths] You have to give. If you don’t have any money then you’d better get a penny in your hand or something.”
- (Refusing to give the pieces of prayer cloths to children) “I can’t give this to kids. It’s too heavy.” (Often Juanita would skip the kids, but they could get them from Jan, who was next in line.)
- “The Lord told me to give you these socks… In your time of prayer, you are to wear them, and you will walk in authority. Be careful what you say, because what you say will come to pass.” (Yes, Juanita gave some woman the socks she was wearing when she walked on the tallits.)
Why can this woman scream until her vocal cords are frayed, and I’m not sure I’ll be able to have class this weekend because of the sore throat? Why do the wicked prosper?
This is not my God. This is not the worship which my God demands of me. This is not repentance and contrition; this is a new sacrificial cult, with TBN as the priests, a television studio as a Temple, and money instead of animals. But never in this hour-plus tirade was there a call to repentance. The call was to give money. No repentance. No study of the Word. No call to obedience. No, that’s what the tallit stands for, and that’s what she was and is walking on.
If you can watch this and not recognize naked greed, and not recognize the veritable reincarnation of Simon Magus in this woman and all her cronies, then you are indeed blind. The Lord can open your eyes, but He doesn’t want your money. He wants your life.
We just noticed a few things about the tallits. They have something like “The Power of Prayer” written on them. (What do they have to do with prayer, as far as Yeshua is concerned? Not a great deal, really.) Also of interest was the fact that some of them didn’t have tzitzit (the long tassels at the corners), which are the only connection between tallits and the Torah (the Torah does not command to wear tallits, it commands that four-cornered garments must have tzitzit). So, she is spreading around a Jewish tradition, while deliberately making some of them violate the Torah she is claiming to teach, by removing the tzitzit. And this honors the Lord… how?
She just told somebody that the tallit was “the greatest thing I could ever give you” (which is probably true, since she does not appear to be qualified to teach the Word).
To a man with the full clerical collar: “I didn’t call you to conservative Christianism, I called you to be a man who walked in deliverance.” To another preacher: “This prayer shawl shall usher you to another level. Your heart will be changed. Divine revelation when you read the scripture shall come into your mind.”
She appeared to cast demons out of at least two people who came forward. Then they pushed them down the assembly line.
You should see the disappointment on people’s faces when Juanita skips them (as far as I can tell, it’s just because there are so many people coming forward). They look shattered, as if the Lord Himself rejected them. The Lord will judge that woman for every heart she breaks in His name.
It’s starting to wrap up. The ministers and so forth in the back are lying around on tallits and sheets — it looks like somebody blew up the mime factory.

I agree with the top article. I used to listen to Juanita for few years and supported her ministry and all. After I decided to read the bible for myself, that’s when slowly I started seeing the truth and things became more evident. I pray that the truth will open for her as well and that she will teach the truth one day. The sooner the better! I lot of people like to put down the preachers but we should expose their false teachings but at the same time, pray for them so that God will open their eyes. God bless you guys.

This is so Television. Everyone has a book, a conference, a cd or a dvd. Please! Read your bible and be a true light to the world. All these people are doing is taking your hard earned money and living it up on it. Now we have the “Holy Land”. They keep you in the “historical Jesus” when they should be reflecting the “greater works than these” that Jesus spoke off. False prophets all of them. They can take their face lifts, fancy clothes, high priced cars and airplanes and jump in the lake! All their gimmicks are beginning to be exposed. May I never be like them.

Hi my name is Charonda I’m 16, and I live in Charlotte. Last night she was suppose to preach at the Grady Cole Center, she was suppose to do a two night gathering for the community here. Tickets were sold for $35 (for both nights) she was suppose to get up and preach at 7:45 pm. Later on she told her staff that she was not going to come because it was less than 1,000 people there.

I have followed Juanita for about 8 years and there messages of hers that have changed my life and mindset, I can not stand in judgement of her about any thing, all i can do is take an account for my own actions and pray that I make it in myself. If you know the word for yourself than chew the meat and spit out the bones. The bible says to study to show yourself approved.

I have enough troubles in my own life. Im not here to judge Ms. Bynum. But to know the truth and do it not is a sin against God. Ms Bynum is not the only guilty party here, she faces God’s wrath is she continues to mislead those who follow behind her. Greed is at the threshold, not the true anointing of the Lord. I believe it is only a matter of time when God will soon cut the wicked, and evil, perverse generations from there own dillussions. My prayer for Ms. Bynum and others, that their minds will recieve God’s Word and His wisdom.

I saw Ms. Byunm at Shirley Caseare’s Church in Raleigh, NC,at Mrs. C’s Birthday celebration. They both are about the money. She asked ten people for 1000 and got even more than that to divide with Mrs C. This is from a poor area located church. There’s something about her just as there was about Saul, he didn’t start out to disobey God. Jesus speaks of giving to the poor, widowed and orphaned children. Why are we giving to preachers many who have no expenses and a salary because their churches take care of them? I believe it’s because we are all searching for something. I gave but with a cheerful heart, my money problems didn’t improve but God continues to make away for me. One sad thing is that some young boys made comments of it being “fake”. Now that’s shameful and I encouraged the mom who was just seeking a miracle to help with her boys. Even if they aren’t real JESUS is real yes, we must read his word for ourselves. Amen

I am greatly disappointed with the influential Christian leaders who pervert the gospel. I am even more so with the people who follow the doctrines of these individuals. It is evident that they have not searched the Scriptires for themselves, which clearly exposes such lies. What is it going to take for people to wake up and read their Bibles? I believe, for the most part, that the same spirit of greed lives on the inside of them as well. I am happy you have come out of this false teaching of Bynum. However, I do not, as you , wish her to teach EVER. She’s lost, and I mean EVER if she even gets saved. She needs to get saved then sit under teaching.
Nonetheless I doubt she ever will be saved. Peter doubted Simon Magus to ever be saved, he even cast doubt upon whether he could be forgiven. Not that God could not forgive him, for we know that all manner of sin and blasphemy can be forgiven, (excluding Holy Spirit blasphemy) but Peter doubted that he could ever be brought to a place of repentance to be forgiven. This is what I think the text and exegesis would give to us.
Secondly, the Word does not say “a great falling away” unless it is another version, yet, the word “great” is not there. 2 Thess. 2:3. As an evangelist, I hear many pastors say this, yet it is not there. It’s not even suggested in the Greek, just that there will be a great defection, thus not every one in church are His.
If we are more concise in what we say, the Lord will bless
us in it. Just as there is no book of Revelations, only Revelation. I take note when persons pronounce it singularly. They are typically good Bible students.
Nicodemus was responsible both spiritually and intellectually as Jesus showed and rebuked him for lacking such in John 3. So then are we responsible in both manners.

If people would read and study the Bible, false teachers would not, could not, exist because no one would give or send them money. There is no excuse in our day and time for being taken in by one of these false teachers. If you are, then you are not doing what the Bible commands which is to study the WORD and not be taken in by charismatic, attractive and intelligent false teachers. Paula White is another one–she is divorced and has been having an affair with a pastor in my city. They were both married when this affair started. We must be led by the spirit of God in all things. Once we come to recognize this, it will be much easier to detect the presence of the evil work. We must also be willing to depart from the presence of every evil work, and pray for those that are doers of the evil work. If any man be of Christ, they are therefore partakers with him. Therefore, the Holy Ghost (God’s Spirit) dwells with them and they shall therefore know and understand when evil is present. Judge not, lest ye be judged. But love and pray for everyone in faith (confidence), that God may hear your prayers and heal the land.
This is my interpretation of how to deal with false prophets in this wicked generation. Many of them are called, but few are chosen. This is why we witness so many leaders being put to shame before the whole world, particularly women.
The bible clearly states that women should have a seat in the church. Very seldom, if at any time, do we hear these so called prophetess preaching on these teachings. Although the world may change, Gods word will always remain the same. You cannot take from nor add to his word, lest judgment be upon you. And we must remember that Gods ways are not of our ways, nor are his thoughts of our thoughts. God is much higher than we could ever imagine. Man can not tell you what God has said to them unless he acknowledges of hearing a word from God by the Holy Ghost. God is a spirit, and this is his way to communicate with us. You should only follow your leader as he follows Christ and not of the selfishness of himself and this world.
I will continue to pray for those that are being deceived by many leaders of today who preaches prosperity by giving them money. May God have mercy on their souls. God bless.

People of God, remember first that God is Sovereign and whomever is preaching a false gospel He is allowing them to preach it…for a purpose. Remember the old and the new go hand in hand. Let us read in the book of Jeremiah where the Lord speaks and says “I will appoint priest over the people according to what is in the heart of the people.” Those who want a gospel of prosperity will find a preacher to preach that. Those who want Christ, to suffer as He suffered, to endure rejection and reviling AND recieve deliverance will find a church that is GOVERNED by the HOLY SPIRIT and will come to understand who CHRIST is and will seek after HIM. If believers find themselves in a church where CHRIST is not being taught, God’s word as it has been written is not being taught, if the word is being manipulated for gain and sin is abounding in the Body of Christ, where there is no Godly chastisement for sin…then RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!! first of all i would like to say to everyone on this page its ok to voice your opinions but who are some of you to say these things about her you dont know what type of relationship this woman has with god. whats kills me is people think just because you are a pastor/minister you cannot make mistakes in life nobody living on earth is perfect we have all did or said things that is not of god. and its wrong to say she is phony. god put everybody on this earth to do a good deed and learn him for ourselves as christians we have to be careful about the things we say about others and look in the mirror sometimes now dont get me wrong there are false pastors/ministers etc but we have to let go and let god deal with them thats not our job.

Back in 2002 I went to a conf.in texas city,la marquetx.I saw it for. myself.she said”I want 10 peop people to come up and sow $1000.00.then she got the 10.then she said I want 20 people to sow 500.00.then she went as far to 300.and she had $100.00 linethen she stop.there was no line for my 85.00 seed.all this is a scam to get us who don’t know the truth to be decived.that wasthe truning point for me.put ur eyes,ears,heart,ur faith on jesus.he’s free!!!!!

I have never seen such a day in my life as what we are living in. People like Ms. Bynum, Paula White, TD Jakes, Long, and all the rest would not have the place they have if the body of Christ had not placed them there. We have joined with the world and made demigogs out of people who are supposed to be no more than the great cloud of witnesses that have gone before us and them. Apostle Paul, Peter, James, John, Timothy, and all the rest. We treat people like the world worships and idolizes Hollywood. We buy pictures of them and place them in our living rooms. We cheer for them as if we were at a Rock Concert. We fall out and swoon over them when they walk in a room. We act just like the world, making them something that they are not. And then fall out and get angry when they turn out to be just like anyone else human.
We don’t study the word. We listen to what is said and never go home and open our bibles to see for ourselves what God is saying through His Spirit. Allowing him to give us personal revelation of His will and purpose for our lives,we seek it through our gods of the air waves and conferences.
I can honestly say I have never heard a full length messages from any of the above, I have never been to any of their conferences, except Ms. Bynum in San Diego once a friend invited me to go with her one night, I am sorry but I was not impressed. Why? Because I have been to busy getting before the Lord for myself, studying his word, and preaching and teaching to the lost, the broken, reaching out to the fatherless and the widow, preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Preparing to reach His end time Harvest.
I cannot even imaging Apostle Paul saying to Timothy I can’t come unless you can guarantee me, so many people and so much money. I have experienced this at my church and the people that said this were not of the status of the above people. Even the ones who are not on the level of the people I have mentioned above are doing it too. But the sickness spreads in the body of Christ just like that, from the top down and every body wants to get in on the action. So you don’t have to be on the level of the above mentioned folk, it is prevalent in the body of Christ on lots of levels. It is a sickness and disease that only God can cure and in His own time He will. I do not judge Ms. Bynum or any of the others God will. It is enough for me to continue to do what I can in my own little corner of God’s vineyard and work out my own salvation with fear and trembling.
God said He will shake that which can be shaken so that what is real can remain.

the very essence of god is love, i have to ask are any of you spiritual enough to forgive her, and pray for ms B that she makes it into the kingdom…if you see your sister falling away.. now is the time pray & to lead her back to the Lord, with truth..any takers…so a man thinks in his heart ..so is he……Be careful now…be watchful and pray…be sober… dont come across as if your intoxicated folks…God is love…use the Word,that divides sheep from goats..glory be to god…umm i will just pray that all these word curses and the fall out of them be nullified and canceled, in the name of jesus..abide in his love ms.b…i pray that god makes his face to shine upon your face. I think if we stop criticise and pray more, we all would be better off. The pot is calling the kettle black. We are all sinners, some save by grace, others need more grace. Juanita Bynum and almost every one else on TBN is a false teacher. Creflo Dollar, John Avanzini, Kenneth Copeland, Jesse Duplantis, TD Jakes, Joel Osteen, Benny Hinn, Joyce Meyer, Marilyn Hickey….the list goes on and on. These are highly intelligent and cunning people who have no real relationship with God. They utilize the entire base of Christendom to engrandize themselves and fill their pockets at the expense of the unsuspecting ill informed sheep. They are storing up wrath for themselves for their wickedness. There is no justification for what they are doing to the Gospel by twisting it to their financial advantage. Imagine the hundreds of millions of dollars collected through the years by people who are looking to be miraculously fulfilled now with joy and ppeace and finacial well being and all the while these ministers of Mammon are living like hollywood stars while those who give are poorer financially and spiritually because unfortunately they want to imitate these so called leaders. We need to be listening to and supporting ministries of sound doctrine like RC Sproul, John Macarthur, Alistair Begg, Ravi Zacharias, Charles Stanley, and ministers who share through expository preaching for true spiritual growth. Shame on these prophets of Satan and modern day Pharisees who have no business teaching and preaching and holding millions in ignorant captivity. These people are hell bound defectors and people who at one point heard the true Gospel but along the way succumbed to the temptations of greed and revealed their true natures…..not a Godly nature of self sacrifice, humility, repentance, seeking eternal rewards, speaking the truth in love at all costs, denying themselves etc. They seek their best lives now, greed, avarice, self engrandizement, fame, power, and all the vices that cause eternal destruction. People we need to run for our lives by running towards the Saviour and abandoning everything and anything that compromises the true Gospel.
