Is the word Trinity found in the Bible?

Those who do not believe in the doctrine of the Trinity reject it because they claim that since the word Trinity is not in the scriptures than it doesn’t exist. They are right there is no particular verse in the bible that says there is a trinity. That is correct and accurate but it does not prove that God is not a Trinity. There are many words that Christians and others use that it is not found in the scripture. For instance the word “Bible” does not exist in the Bible.

However, the New Testament brings God the father, the Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit together in such a way that the Trinitarian doctrine becomes very obvious. We will quote three verses below that brings together the three persons of the Godhead.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all [2 Corinthians 13:14].

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit [Matthew 28:19].

To God’s elect. . .who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood [1 Peter 1:1-2].

We encourage you to read each of these passages and note how God (Father), Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit are brought together as instruments of our salvation.

1 Corinthians 2:2-5; 6:11; 12:4-6; 2 Corinthians 1:21-22; Romans 14:17-18; 15:16;Galatians 4:6; Ephesians 2:18-22; 3:14-19; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 1:6-8; 1Thessalonians 1:3-5; 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14; Titus 3:4-6.

Although none of these verses say directly that God is a Trinity. Certainly, such verses do show that the New Testament Faith is a Trinitarian faith. While God is one being, he exists eternally as three coequal and coeternal Persons, whom we know as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. there are three whos within the one being of God, that is, the three divine Persons—Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The Father has always been the Father and the Son has always been the Son. And, of course, the Holy Spirit has always been the Holy Spirit. All three divine Persons—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—share the one being of God. The Trinity doctrine explains that Jesus was not created sometime prior to his incarnation, but existed eternally as God.
