I am a person seeking for the truth. I was born a Catholic. Then I joined Oneness Pentecostalism. Few years after, I left the Oneness faith and more than 20 years of being "nowhere" I tried joining the LDS Church. Mormons are so nice to me. After my "evangelizing" I was asked if I am willing to be baptized. At that point, I was so undecided but I continued searching for other LDS beliefs through the internet. I was shocked to find out those weird stuff believed by them. However, to me, I consider those beliefs as errors of men rather than errors of the church. Until now, I am still joining the LDS as an "unbaptized member." I am jobless and they offered me a job (although I did not accept it). If only for their concern, I want to stay with them rather than join the evangelicals. It is still vivid in my mind how a friend of mine, a son of an evangelical pastor, borrowed few thousands of pesos and never showed up after swindling my money! Because of this, I promised to myself never to become a member of any evangelical church or protestant church, for that matter.

Do Mormons believe that they must be saved in order to obtain eternal life in Heaven? When you pray, who are you praying to? With so many Mormons who've become "gods" and "goddesses", who do you communicate with? What are the temples/tabernacles for?

Acts Ch 17

22 Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: “People of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious. 23 For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. So you are ignorant of the very thing you worship—and this is what I am going to proclaim to you.

24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. 26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’[b] As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’[c]

29 “Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by human design and skill. 30 In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. 31 For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed (JESUS). He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.”

For the most part, these excerpts of mormon beliefs are right. The problem I find with this article is the fact that they are grossly out of context with mormon teachings and doctrine- for instance
"(some early leaders say he is a polygamist)" this is true, but, that was there opnion, not doctrine. The fact of the matter is that they do not have any 'revelation' confirming OR denying this.
"Jesus was begotten by physical union of God and Mary. Since God has a body of flesh and bones, he really had literal sex with Mary." This is wrong outright. They believe, becuase many of their leaders who have talked about the subject. That the Virgin Marry is, well, a Virgin.
"If something feels bad, like someone telling us that Joseph Smith was a fraud, then we know that Smith must of been a prophet since falsehoods create bad feelings and it feels bad when someone tells us that we have been duped." This statement is thoroughly disingenuous. Even christians believe that through the power of the Holy Spirit, that they can know the difference between right and wrong.
"We believe that when the Prophet, the head of our church, says something that is definitely wrong he was not being inspired at that time. He was only speaking as a man. We believe that the newer Prophets can override the older Prophets. We believe we have a prophet on earth today even though he never prophecies anything.

Reference: Ezra Taft Benson ‘14 Fundamentals in Following the Prophets’ pgs 1-16, 1980: “Beware of those who would pit the dead prophets against the living prophets, for the living prophets always take precedence.”"- again, disingenuous. The new "prophets" dont override their predecessors in their church. The point of them having a current day prophet is to either clarify anothers teaching/opinion from a different perspective or PROPHECY something NEW. They know when he is prophecying becuase he is required to tell them that it is DIRECT revelation from God.
He is also there to lead the church in mundane matters.

By the way, they do have a biblical justification for the whole Baptism for the dead thing- ever read corinthians

There are also several historical records that prove that the early Greek Orthodox church had a similer practice...
